Suspected Stalker Questioned: 'However Suppose I Might Be Madeleine?'
A female charged with harassing Kate McCann apparently recorded her a voicemail message which posed: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
The defendant, twenty-four, who witnesses stated has repeatedly claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with pursuing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.
On Monday, the tribunal heard phone records and evidence recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a biological test during the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - when she was three years old during a family holiday in Portugal - is among the most publicized investigations and remains unresolved.
'I Don't Want Money'
A separate voicemail, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm heavy and not pretty like Madeleine had been, but I feel what I feel."
While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's one-way conversations with Mrs McCann's answerphone stated: "What if there is a small chance that I'm her? What happens next? Is that not important for you?"
"I don't want money, I maintain a life here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.
The tribunal was informed that through emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt asked for a biological test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a effort to display a similarity to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, an investigator with Leicestershire Police who gathered the data, informed the court there "showed no any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to acquaintances of the McCanns, based on the phone records.
On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "incorrect contact information."
During that incident Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my position."
The court heard Mrs Spragg established a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in that area in that winter.
Phone records revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she should be treated respectfully in the period leading up to the appearance to Rothley, Leicestershire, in last December.
The court learned correspondence between the two accused, in November 2024, planning attempting to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from cutlery at a restaurant.
"We have to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg told Ms Wandelt.
On the occasion of the appearance to their home, Mrs Spragg dispatched a text which stated: "We are sitting outside the McCanns' residence with our headlights off similar to detectives. I wanted to accomplish this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
The trial proceeds.
