Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of the player by name in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.
Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles
The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.
Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
